Have an American Express Platinum Card? Sign Up for Priority Pass Now

I am not a big traveler.  I am most definitely not a luxury traveler.  My first lounge experience was in the Chase United lounge in Newark and I killed it with a free coffee and pears and I've been hooked ever since!  Kidding of course.  That was a few years ago and I haven't made it into a lounge since then.

Since I don't travel much, paying the annual fee on a card like American Express Platinum just doesn't make sense to me.  I just won't get enough value out of it.

That being said, I'm not one to turn down free lounge access and this past year I got the Platinum Business card and used it during the $20k Challenge (seems like so long ago!)

A few days ago I realized that I have a trip coming up today and I asked a few friends who know lounges much better than me how to get access to a lounge for my flight.  I needed priority pass for my particular flight and the Platinum cards gives you free access to registration.

Waiting Period

Little did I know that once you sign up with your Platinum card, they send you your registration information in the mail in 10-14 days.  That wasn't going to work.

I signed up and called immediately to see if I can get immediate access.  I was told 48-72 before they get the information from american express.  I called again last night and they did in fact have my information.  I was able to create a profile, download the app and get an immediate digital access card.

Had I waited a few more days, I would have been sitting with the paupers outside in the regular chairs.

The expiration is 2019 so you might as well sign up immediately so that you don't run into my situation or just be more organized than me, thought it will automatically expire once you cancel your American Express Platinum card.  You might as well take advantage while you have it.
