Sign up for Uber via a link from Starwoods Credit Card and you will earn $30 towards your first ride for Uber.  It only works for your first ride so if your first ride is only $20, the credit will only be worth $20.

Last Minute 5x eBay Bucks Reselling Ideas

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:  eBay, Inbox Dollars, Amazon

I'm sure many of you are aware, eBay is having a Targeted 5x in eBay Bucks (10%) promotion which ends at Midnight PT tonight.  I haven't been around for a couple of days so I missed it for the most part (argh!) but here are some last minute ideas to take advantage of.

For the most part, these are deals for the eBay Bucks, portals and eBay Gift Cards, but the first couple can make you a little bit on the sale as well.

If you breakeven and you earn 5% from a portal, 10% from eBay Bucks and 5% from buying discount gift cards, that's ~20% margins!

Start with Inbox Dollars and you will get 5% cashback for eBay purchases.

You can buy eBay Gift cards for even greater savings.  You are always able to buy eBay gift cards for 5% off from Target with a Target RedCard

Most sales on eBay do not have taxes except in select states for each seller.  Check your state to make sure you aren't charged tax.  Otherwise, the deals don't make as much sense for you.

iPad Air 2 16GB - $380 on eBay - $430ish on Amazon - fees about $25-$30.  Limit of 2.  Most profit available here.

XBox 500GB Master Chief Collection - $310 on eBay - $365ish on Amazon.  Fees are $30.  Shipping will be most expensive for this.  $5-$10.  If you can sell for $360-$365, you can still make money on the sale.

Nintendo Wii U 32GB - $259 on eBay.  $290 on Amazon.  Fees about $25-$30.  Limit of 5

iPad Air 2 64GB - $490 on eBay - $530-$550 on Amazon.  Fees about $30-$35.  Limit of 2

iPad Air 2 64GB - $490 on eBay - $530-$550 on Amazon.  Fees about $30-$35.  Limit of 25

Every one of these are pretty good sellers.

Remember that there is a maximum of $100 of eBay Bucks you can earn in one transaction and a maximum of $500 in eBay Bucks for the quarter (new quarter in October - yay!).

MacBook 13" $799 on eBay - Reselling Opportunity, but Not for Everyone

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:  eBay, Inbox Dollars, Raise, Amazon

Update: Use coupon code C20OFFSEPT - some are targeted for $20 off and some are not.  HT - Yossie

eBay has a MacBook 13" MD101LL/A for $799 without tax everywhere except NJ.

This has been on sale on eBay numerous times for the same price and because of that, the price on Amazon gone down from a high of about $890 to about $875-$880, but is still a pretty decent seller (#7 in laptops) and makes sense for some people.

$100 Chevron Gift Card for $95 on eBay - Cheap Alaska Miles

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:  eBay, Amazon, Inbox Dollar

SVM gift cards are selling $100 Chevron Gift Card for $95.  Limit of 3

You can sell these to SaveYa (physical card only) for 90.3% according to Gift Card Wiki.

After 2% from credit cards and 2% in eBay Bucks, you are almost breaking even.  You can start shopping from Alaska Airlines shopping portal and earn some cheap Alaska Air miles (3x) or 5% from Inbox Dollars and make some money, if you trust them.

You can use eBay Gift Cards for greater savings or money making.

My Go To Gift Card Buyers and CardCash's Great Customer Service

I do some opportunistic gift card reselling every once in a while.  When you choose the right deals, the risks are low and the returns can be decent.

I have come to learn that where you sell your gift cards to matters almost as much, if not more, than the rate you receive.

I will no longer sell to Gift Card Rescue or JunkCard (I don't think Junkcard is accepting new gift cards anyways).

Gift Card Rescue took a long time to pay out, required extra information and threatened to hold funds hostage from my people and changed payouts on others.  In the end, their CEO intervened and everyone got paid (let me know if you didn't).

JunkCard also took a long time to pay, was bouncing checks and didn't acknowledge a large transaction of mine.  They didn't respond to emails so I threatened a lawsuit (it would have been worth it) and I was finally paid.

Either way, it was not worth the hassle and stress for a couple extra percent.

My Favorite Gift Card Buyers

I now stick with the big guns for the most part:  Raise, Gift Card Zen, Cardpool, CardCash and I'm just starting out with Gift Card Mart.

Turnaround is quick, they often pay with ACH payments, accept eGift Cards and the companies are reliable and interested in a long term profitable relationship, not making an extra buck off you short term.

There may be others that deserve to be on this list, but I don't have much experience with others so I won't mention them.  I have had good results with SaveYa but I can't say the same for others and they have some intense limits on their Bulk Sellers.

CardCash Customer Service

In addition, the bigger companies have customer service that is usually excellent.  Here is one example from CardCash:

Back at the end of August, I talked about a Gift Card deal.  One of the deals involved buying $100 76 Brand Gas Gift Cards for $90 and selling them for $92 to CardCash.

By mistake, when I was selling to CardCash, I entered the value as $90 (the price I paid) instead of $100.  That could have been a big problem.  They could have kept the extra funds themselves and only sent it to me if I realized.  It has happened on other exchanges.

I received this email from CardCash

They verified the gift cards and saw that there was $100, not $90 and automatically paid me $92.  I am very happy with all of my transactions with them so far.

Apple Watch on Sale on eBay - $15x5 Reselling MoneyMaker - Buy with Increased eBay Bucks!

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:  eBay, Amazon, Inbox Dollar

HT - JS via DM

This is the same sale as a few weeks back but the Apple Watch has gone down in price by about $10.

eBay has a sale on the Apple Watch for $375.  There shouldn't be taxes anywhere except NJ.

There is not much more time to take advantage of increased eBay Bucks.

Limit of 5 per person.

Gift Cards I Would Buy from the Sale if I had eBay Bucks Left :(

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:  eBay, Inbox Dollar

eBay is having a wonderful sale (only a few hours left with increased eBay Bucks up to 8%) on gift cards today.

Here is the lineup of gift cards I personally would buy if I had any eBay Bucks left (I bought some even though I have no eBay Bucks left)

Make sure to start your shopping at Inbox Dollars for 5% cashback or 3x from AA shopping portal or 3x from Alaska portal

Many Gift Card Deals Live on eBay including $100 Staples Gift Cards for $85 and Best Buy

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:  eBay, Inbox Dollar,

I mentioned previously that a bunch of gift cards would be on sale soon on eBay.  This is finally live and more gift cards have been added.

Here is the relevant data.  Some of them are not yet live, but the Staples one is and that's the one I care about the most.

For the most part this is good for those that are interested in using the gift cards, but there are some reselling moneymakers, especially if you count the 5% from Inbox Dollar or 3x from AA shopping portal or 3x from Alaska portal

These all should earn 8% back in eBay Bucks if you were targeted for increased eBay Bucks.

These are sold by PayPal Digital Gifts so they should qualify for 5x Ultimate Rewards points if you pay with Chase Ink.  They are all eGift Cards.  You can only buy up to $1,000 in gift cards from PayPal Digital Gifts per 30 days so keep that in mind before you purchase.

If you are having trouble checking out, try buying one gift card at a time.

This is sold by Gift Card Mall so you will not earn 5x Ultimate Rewards points.  Use whatever credit card you would like or eBay Gift Cards.

Best Buy Flash Sale - iPad Mini 3's $175 off

Ht - Friend via DM

Best Buy is having a flash sale and iPad mini 3's (mini 4's will be coming out soon) are $175 off.  Limit of 2 per color (Gold is no longer available online - in store only)

For example, the 16GB version is $225.  They are selling for 300-$320 on Amazon and fees are about $20.

Silver ranked #140, Space Gray is #277 and gold is #244. All will sell very fast.

If you assume taxes bring you to about $250 per iPad, your takehome would be $30 per iPad at the minimum if prices stay the same.  That's 12% before the extras!

Stock up!

I don't want to go through the math because they may sell out soon.

Discover Deals is 5% (it's back!) and Best Buy Rewards is up to 2.5%.  5% will turn into 10% in 13 months if you are enrolled in Discover Double promotion.

If you don't have a Discover Card, you can use my referral link to earn a $50 signup bonus (doubled after the 13th statement) after your first purchase.

Staples Stores Accept Apple Pay - Love the Discover/Apple Pay Insanity

On a tip from a few readers who mentioned that Staples accepts Apple Pay, I headed over to a couple Staples stores today and confirmed myself (and obviously bought iPads!) that they do accept Apple Pay.  I paid with my linked Discover and was an easy transaction.  I love this insanity!

There is no need to Price Match to Best Buy (unless you want more!).

Considering the iPad deal that is going on now at Staples, this is a nice time to head on over yourself.

Lately, there has been a wonderful and reliable gravy train from Top Cashback.  They matched 5% cashback claims on eBay Purchases to Inbox Dollars.

I started to hear grumblings yesterday that they were denying these claims which was interesting because my claim yesterday was accepted and I know of one other was accepted.

iPad Air 2 64GB on sale eBay - $125+ Reselling MoneyMaker (Select States)

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:  eBay, Inbox Dollar, Top Cashback, Amazon

HT - JS via Dm

eBay has the iPad Air 2 64GB for $490 there is no taxes in SC, but there is tax in NY, NJ, FL, CA.  Put in your address and see what happens.  Lets your SC friends know :) Max of 5 per person.

Use Best Buy Price Match from Staples on iPad Deal for Discover/Apple Pay Insanity!

Update: One reader points out that Staples accepts Apple Pay, that is another place to buy the iPads.  Since you can't buy $10,000 at once, you can go to both stores.

Chuck over at Doctor of Credit reported today that some Best Buy's are now starting to accept Apple Pay.

This leads us to our first Discover/Apple Pay insanity deal.

Earlier this week I reported a wonderful iPad deal at Staples.com.  iPad Air 2s are $150 off. I normally like to price match from Best Buy to Staples because of portals, Chase Ink and extremely generous Staples Rewards.

Let's do the reverse today, let's pricematch from Staples to Best Buy.

Does it work?  Here is the language from the Best Buy's Price Match Guarantee.

We won't be beat on price.

We'll match the product prices of key online and local competitors.

The Details:
  • At the time of sale, we price match all local retail competitors (including their online prices) and we price match products shipped from and sold by these major online retailers: Amazon.com, Bhphotovideo.com, Crutchfield.com, Dell.com, HP.com, Newegg.com, and TigerDirect.com.

The bold part is where we are going for.  Staples should be considered a local retailer (assuming there is one locally).  The iPad Air 2 deal at Staples is only found online for the 64GB version.  The 16GB version is found in the circular so you could pick up a circular and bring it just in case.  Based on their guarantee, they should match Staples online price.

So you will be forfeiting 5x Ultimate Rewards, up to 5% Staples Rewards, but earning up to 2.5% Best Buy Rewards and 22% from Discover.  Not too shabby!  I'm heading over to Best Buy once that iPhone comes through to check it out!

Here's the hitch:  They may not have any in stock, they may limit how many you can buy with the price match or the manager may decided to deny the pricematch even if it is legitimate, but if it works out, it's gold!

$50 Kmart eGift Card for $42.50 - Reselling MoneyMaker ($13.79)

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: eBay, Inbox Dollars, Top Cashback

$50 Kmart Gift Card for $42.50 - Limit of 3

You will earn 2% in eBay Bucks as well.

Sold by PayPal Digital Gifts so you will earn 5x Ultimate Rewards Dollars as well.

They can be sold to SaveYa for 84%.  You are buying them for 85% so you lose, $.50 per gift card on the sale, but you earn the eBay Bucks, 5% from Inbox Dollars (or match) and 5x Ultimate Rewards Dollars.

Don't forget to start with Inbox Dollar or 5% match from Top Cashback

Here is the math for selling 3 gift cards:

Sale = -$1.50
eBay Bucks - $2.55
Inbox Dollars or Top Cashback match - $6.37
5x Ultimate Rewards - 637 points

If you value Ultimate Rewards at $0.01 per point, that's a profit of $13.79.  Not amazing, but not bad either.

If PayPal does not let you checkout with 3 at a time, buy one a time and see what happens.  Also keep in mind that there is a limit of $1,000 in gift cards bought from PayPal Digital Gifts per rolling 30 days so this will cannibalize from that limit if you care about that.

These sell for $415-$430 on Amazon, depending on the color.

Update to Staples iPad Deal -Target Price Match with 10% Cartwheel Coupon

HT - slickdeals

Update:  I went to Target and I was able to pricematch to Staples.com.  They were not sure whether they were allowed to do it, but they said only 1 pricematch item so it won't be the most lucrative trip even if you get the match.

I then asked to apply the cartwheel coupon which they were happy to do.  I used my RedCard and earned another 5% off. Final price was slightly under $400.  I should earn $100-$120 for the one iPad.  Not too shabby but I don't think I would go back just for another iPad.  Too easy for you to come away with nothing. YMMV.  If was going to Target anyways, I would buy an iPad while I was there.

You may go and they may not have them in stock, they many not pricematch for you, they many not allow you to use the cartwheel savings after the pricematch.

I published a deal this morning for a nice deal on staples.com.

There is a way to make this even sweeter at Target.  Target should pricematch to Staples.  Target is also offering 10% off iPads on their Cartwheel App (expires 9/26) with a maximum of 4 per transaction though they may not let you buy that many.

Limit of using the coupon 6 times per day so you could technically buy 24 but you will probably have to go to different Target stores to get that done.

I don't know if they will price match and then apply the coupon, but if they will, you can also get the 5% RedCard discount.

You also don't need to do one or the other, you can do both.

iPad Air 2s $150 off on Staples Website - Reselling Moneymakers

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:Amazon, Staples

Update: You can try to pricematch at Target for even greater savings.

Staples is selling all the various colors of iPad Air 2 for $150 off.

Here is the example math for the 64GB version which is selling for $450.  The same holds true for the 16GB and 128GB.  In general the smaller versions sell better, but you can't buy too many or they will label you as a reseller.  I think the 64GB version is a happy medium, they still sell very fast.

These sell for about $530- $550 on Amazon depending on the color.  Not quite as good a sale at the other iPad mini (which is dead) from last night, but the extras are much better from Staples than Best Buy.  You are basically going to breakeven or maybe make a little bit of money.

If you buy for $450 and you pay about $500 after taxes.  Your takehome is about $520 after fees if you are able to sell about $550 so you can possibly make $20.  If you sell closer to $530 it is more breakever.

Here are the extras you could earn

5x Ultimate Rewards points - ~2,500 points per laptop
5% cashback from Upromise Shopping Portal - $22.50 per iPad
up to 5% in Staples Rewards - Up to $22.50 per iPad.

These extras equal to over 10% profit margin.  Not too shabby!

Those extras are a big deal to me so I will likely take part in this deal just for the extras.

16GB is $450 and sells for about $430-$450 on Amazon depending on color
128GB is $550 and sells for about $650-$670 on Amazon depending on color

Next Time, We Buy Physical Gift Cards Instead...

Last week we saw two incredible eBay coupon codes which each took 15% off any order on eBay (up to $100 discount) that didn't last long. See Day 1 and Day 2 posts.

Here are a couple of takeaways from the deal:

The first day I was able to buy a MacBook as I suggested and I think many others were able to buy the same MacBook for a reselling play.

iPad Mini 3s 64GB on Sale at Best Buy - Reselling MoneyMaker

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: Be Frugal, Amazon

Update: Price up to $450 :( - Dead for resellers

HT - TG via SlickDeals

Best Buy has a sale on iPad Mini 3s 64GB version which is very enticing.  They are $350 before tax, so let's call it $380 after tax

Gold version is sold out and the gray and silver are only available for store pickup.

The same iPads are available on Amazon for about $445.  Fees bring your takehome down to about $418 at a selling price of $445.  With shipping your takehome will be $413-$417 depending on how many you ship at once.  Let's assume $410 in case price goes down a little.

That's a profit of $30 per iPad.

Many Gift Cards Going on Sale on eBay (Not Live Yet) - Staples is Useful

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:  eBay, Inbox Dollar, Top Cashback

eBay is having a nice sale on some gift cards coming up.  These links will work once the deal goes live.  We won't know the limits until the deal is live.  I don't know how long it will take before it's live but it may be a few days or even a week.  I will put out a new post once I know it is live.  Please let me know with a comment or tweet (@orensmoneysaver) if you see that it is live and I have not posted yet.

For the most part this is good for those that are interested in using the gift cards, but there are some reselling moneymakers, especially if you count the 5% from Inbox Dollar or a 5% match from Top Cashback.

So, here we go:

$100 Staples Gift Card for $85
Buy a $75 Sephora Gift Card and Get an Additional $15 Gift Card
$50 TGI Fridays Gift Card for $40
$50 Lord and Taylor Gift Card for $40
$50 Gilt Gift Card for $40
$50 Aeropostale Gift Card for $40
Buy a $50 JCPenny Gift Card and Get a $10 Gift Card Free
Buy a $50 Steak N' Shake Gift Card and Get a $10 Gift Card Free
Buy a $25 Legal Sea Foods Gift Card and Get a $5 Gift Card Free

Here is a link to all gift cards sold by PayPal Digital Gifts in case I missed something.

eBay Coupon Code - CMXDAY2 (Dead)

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:  eBay, Inbox Dollar, Top Cashback.

Update : Reader Josh reports that PayPal receipt may not be reflecting $100 discount, but that the credit card charge reflects the discount.  I checked my credit card online and it does indeed reflect the discount.

Update 2:  Rumor is that it is up to 5,000 purchases and it only works once per PayPal account.  It takes 15% off up to $100 for anything on eBay!.

Update 3 - Dead!  Congrats to all those who got in!  You can always try just in case it come back.

I don't know what the coupon code is meant for, but reader Josh pointed out that CMXDAY2 is a coupon code that seems to be working for eBay purchases.  It took $100 off the price of the MacBooks I just posted.  It will work on anything in eBay including eBay Gift Cards or any other gift cards.

Don't forget to start with Inbox Dollar or 5% match from Top Cashback.  It will also stack with the Targeted 10% back in eBay Bucks.

Try it on your purchases and see what it does for you.

Please be aware that these purchases are likely to get cancelled.
