$15 off $60 at Amazon with New American Express offer - Discounted Amazon and 3rd Party Gift Cards - Support Your Bloggers!

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: Amazon

As reported by many bloggers today, there is a new American Express offers for you available.  Spend $60 at Amazon and earn a $15 statement credit.  That's good for 25% off anything on Amazon.  This offer is on every card in your American Express login.  It will run out of offers so add them to your account even before you know what to buy.

Don't know what to buy?  You can always buy Amazon Gift Cards and add them to your account for future use.  Once they are in your account, they are automatically used for your next purchase so you don't need to keep track.

Have too many Amazon Gift Cards?  Amazon sells gift cards to other retailers as well, including Southwest, Whole Foods, Starbucks and many others.

This is a great way to support your favorite bloggers since there is no portal that will pay out for Amazon gift card purchases (at least that I know of - please comment if I'm wrong).

Upgrade GameStop Gift Card to Amazon Gift Card

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: Top Cashback

A friend of mine let me know that GameStop gift cards can be used to purchase other types of gift cards in store including Amazon Gift Cards.  I spend a ton of money on Amazon every year so Amazon Gift Cards equivalent to cash in my mind.

This is quite nice since GameStop Gift Cards can be bought at a discount online.  I went tonight to check it out myself and it worked like a charm!

A quick check on Gift Card Granny shows that you can buy a GameStop gift card for 10% off via eBay and 8% off via giftcards.com.

Buying gift cards on eBay is great since you can get an additional 1.5% cashback from Top Cashback and you are eligible for eBay Bucks which can be used for future purchases.  If you use a Chase Ink Business credit card you might even get 5x points for the eBay purchase.

Once I knew about this I checked online and there have been others who have talked about it before.  One is in the Frequent Miler Laboratory which is a great resource to check for any gift card or shopping portal questions.  It is also discussed on Slickdeals.

  • Make sure you buy physical gift cards, not eGift Cards so that it can be used in store. Amazon Gift Cards are not sold online by GameStop
  • Buy close to $50 or numbers divisible by 50 since Amazon Gift Cards are sold in GameStop in $50 denominations, at least in my local store.  Otherwise you are paying for the rest with a regular credit card.

New Softcard Promotions - 4,000 United Miles and $150 of Amazon Gift Cards

Softcard is a mobile payment system that works on certain smartphones.  Check out eligibility here.

They have been and are being quite aggressive in recruiting new usage.  They have two new promotions that just started at the beginning of November.

1) 4,000 United Miles

This is the more appealing promotion to me due to its relative ease:

Add a Chase United Credit card to Softcard.  Add your United Frequent Flyer Number to the account by following the steps in the link.

Once your card is added, you will get 2,500 bonus miles for your first purchase with the Chase United in November using Softcard.

For every month afterwards until the end of February that you use make one purchase with the Chase United using Softcard, you will get another 500 bonus miles for a total of 4,000 bonus miles.

Terms and Conditions*Receive 2,500 United MileagePlus Miles (“Miles”) on your 8 -digit United MileagePlus Program Account (“Account”) by: (i) provisioning your United MileagePlus® Credit Card issued by Chase Bank USA, N.A. (“Eligible Card”) to Softcard; (ii) registering your Account number for the offer; and (iii) completing a transaction with your Eligible Card using Softcard (“Eligible Transaction”) between November 1, 2014 and the expiration of the offer on February 28, 2015 (the “Offer Period”). Receive an additional 500 Miles for each subsequent calendar month of the Offer Period in which you complete an Eligible Transaction. Maximum award of 4,000 Miles per Eligible Card under this offer. Award Miles will generally be credited to your Account within 6-8 weeks after the end of the calendar month in which the Miles were earned. Offer expires on February 28, 2015, but offer is subject to change or cancellation at any time. Chase Bank USA, N.A. is not responsible for the provision of or the failure to provide the promotional offers. Miles will post directly to your United MileagePlus account and will not appear on your Chase statement.
Miles accrued, awards, and benefits issued are subject to change and are subject to the rules of the United MileagePlus program, including without limitation the Premier® program (the “MileagePlus Program”), which are expressly incorporated herein. United may change the MileagePlus Program including, but not limited to, rules, regulations, travel awards and special offers or terminate the MileagePlus Program at any time and without notice. United and its subsidiaries, affiliates and agents are not responsible for any products or services of other participating co mpanies and partners. Taxes and fees related to award travel are the responsibility of the member. Bonus award miles, award miles and any other miles earned through non-flight activity do not count toward qualification for Premier status unless expressly stated otherwise. The accumulation of mileage or Premier status or any other status does not entitle members to any vested rights with respect to the MileagePlus Program. All calculations made in connection with the MileagePlus Program, including without limitation with respect to the accumulation of mileage and the satisfaction of the qualification requirements for Premier status, will be made by United Airlines and MileagePlus in their discretion and such calculations will be considered final. Information in this communication that relates to the MileagePlus Program does not purport to be complete or comprehensive and may not include all of the information that a member may believe is important, and is qualified in its entirety by reference to all of the information on the united.com website and the MileagePlus Program rules. United and MileagePlus are registered service marks. For complete details about the MileagePlus Program, go to www.united.com.

2)  Up to $150 in Amazon Gift Cards

This is less exciting to me since it requires many more purchases, but it still can be lucrative.

Use any participating credit card through Softcard 5 times before the end of December and you will get a $10 Amazon Gift Card for each 5 purchases, up to $30 of Amazon Gift Cards, which is a total of 15 purchases for the $30.

Up to 5 separate credit cards are eligible for the $30 of Amazon gift cards for a total of 75 purchases and $150 of Amazon gift cards.

Amazon Gift Cards back in Stock at Plink

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: Plink

Plink is a service that allows you to get extra savings on top of any other savings.

You have to link your credit card to their site, which requires a level of trust that some aren't comfortable with, but if you do you end up with some free gift cards.

For example, spend as little as $3 on your linked card at Dunkin' Donuts and you will get 25 plink points which are worth $0.25 towards their reward gift cards.  If you spend more, you can get even more money back.

Amazon has always been my gift card of choice.  I will always spend money there so I know I will use it.  In addition, I can just add the money right to my Amazon account and not have to find and remember the gift card when I'm ready to make a purchase.

The problem was that all the good gift card redemption options were all out of stock, making Plink points useless until they came back.  Well, I checked this morning and all redemption options are back in stock, including Amazon and Walmart gift cards.

Grab them while they are still in stock!

Need to Make Many Small Transactions? Amazon eGift Cards to the Rescue!

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: Amazon

Here is a small tip that can be pretty helpful.

There are some bonuses that require you to either make a certain number of purchases before you get the bonus or to make a certain number of purchases a month in order for it to stay free.

One example is the Capital One 360 Checking account which required you to make 5 purchases in the first 45 days on their debit card to the bonus.  If you signed up for your spouse as well, that means you have to make 10 purchases, which can be annoying.

Whatever shall you do?

Amazon eGift Cards are the perfect solution!

Amazon eGift cards can be bought at denominations as low as $0.15.  You can buy 5 of them for $0.75 or 10 for $1.50.  You add the gift cards to your Amazon account so there is almost no money outlay and there is also very little time commitment.

Best Buy and Mastercard $50 off a $100 In Store Purchase at Best Buy with Mastercard

Update: I went to the store and they said it was fake and doesn't take any money off, but other sites are reporting in the comments that it does in fact work.  Hopefully everyone else has better luck

Until 1/27, if you use a mastercard at Best Buy you will get a $50 credit for a $100+ in store with this printable coupon.  Read the exclusions to see what doesn't count.

This means lots of free money!

You can take advantage of this in a couple of ways.  The coupon does not explicitely exclude gift cards!

You should be able to buy:

1) Visa Gift Cards - Best Buy sells Visa gift cards that have $4.95 fees.  You can buy a $95.05 gift card (this will cost $100 after fees) and you will get $95 for the price of $50!  That's $45 Free!

2) Amazon Gift Cards - Best Buy also sells Amazon gift cards with no fees so you can get a $100 Amazon gift card for $50!

3) Best Buy Gift Card - To use later.

Make sure to use your reward zone (or sign up) and you will get another $5 in Best Buy gift cards for every $250 you spend.  The reward zone gift cards can be used to buy amazon gift cards.

I will try to go today and report back on whether this works!

Today's Exploits and New Info

Oren on Vacation is Bad News for Companies I like

  • Best Buy Reward Zone gift cards can be used to buy Amazon gift cards!
    • Back in November, I talked about getting some free money from American Express and Best Buy ($14 per American Express card).  Along with the free money, you also get a $5 Best Buy Gift Card for every $250 you spend.  The problem is that they expire and I have little interest in much of what Best Buy sells.
    •  I had one last American Express card to use at Best Buy and I already had $20 worth of gift card.  I found out that the Best Buy gift cards will work on Amazon gift cards, even though they don't work on Visa or non expiring Best Buy gift cards.  With my last credit card, I bought $225 worth of Amazon gift cards for $185 for a discount of 17.8%! $20 off from gift cards and $20 off from American Express.  I already got my email from American Express telling me that I will get $20 back.
      • Amazon gift cards are disguised as Kindle gift cards in the computer section (at least in my store), but they work on any Amazon purchase

  • Exchange your Soda stream carbonator at Bed Bath and Beyond
    • My Soda stream finally ran out of gas (pun intended).  I exchanged the carbonater at Bed Bath and Beyond for $15.  I used a $5 off $15 coupon for a total price of $10.  Not too shabby for 60L worth of carbonation :)
      • Of course, I payed the $10 with a gift card I got for returning a bent knife 3 and a half years after I bought it in a different Bed Bath and Beyond (they don't even carry it in my local store) without any receipt.  They have one of best return policies of any store.
      • I get $25 Bed Bath and Beyond gift certificates for $20 of Discover Card rewards, which is the equivalent of 25% off so a soda stream refill would normally cost a total of $7.50 instead of the full price fo $15!
