Staples Gift Cards Available for 15% off - Great for Merchandise or Free Points

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: eBay

eBay is currently having a great gift card sale on Staples gift cards.  You can buy $100 Staples Gift Cards for $85 with a limit of 5.

There are a ton of people who want Staples gift cards to buy merchandise at Staples for personal or reselling purposes and this is a great sale, but if you don't have that in mind, this can be a good opportunity for some free points when reselling the gift cards.

You can try to resell them on Raise but that involves a measure of risk if they don't sell and a hefty commission as well if you aren't bulk.

Another possibility that would work well for a lot of people is to sell to an exchange that has a very good payout.  There is a lot less risk since you buy it and sell the eGift Cards within an hour or so.

The best payout I know of right now is Gift Card Mart.  They are paying a full 85% for the gift cards which means that you make all of your money back on the exchange and you get to keep all of the extras.

The extras include:

2% in eBay Bucks ($8.50)
Credit Card Points - You can either use Chase Ink for 5x Ultimate Rewards for buying from PayPal Digital Gifts on eBay or you can buy eBay gift cards using MPX app.  From MPX you will  earn 2-2.5 United Airline Miles (850-1062 miles) depending on whether you have a United credit card and you still earn your regular credit card points.  Assuming you earn 2% from your credit card that will be another $8.50
Portal Points - Right now Shop at Home is 1.5% so you will earn ($6.37) from the portal, though your portal points may be negated if you use eBay Gift cards.

The whole process takes about 5-10 minutes so it may be worth it for some.

Keep in mind that Gift Card Mart only buys from Bulk Sellers.  If you aren't a bulk seller you can email them at bulk@giftcardmart.com  to try and become a bulk seller.

If you don't to become bulk with Gift Card Mart it looks like SaveYa is buying eGift Cards at 84.5% so you don't lose much on the exchange.  Verify that before purchasing.

MPX adds eBay Gift Cards at 2x United Miles

I've talked about one of the benefits of MPX before,

MPX is the app run by United that allows you to buy gift cards to some retailers and earn United miles on top of the credit card points from your regular credit card.

Until now, I've often used it for Amazon (2 United Miles) and Toys R US (3 United Miles) gift cards.  In addition, if you have a United credit card, you will earn an additional 25%.  That means 2.5 UA miles for Amazon and 3.75 UA miles for TRU.  You don't actually need to pay with the United credit card to earn the additional miles.

I was buying an Amazon gift card today and I noticed that MPX has now added eBay to the list of online retailers at 2 UA miles per dollar (2.5 with the United credit card).

Unfortunately, you can only buy them in $100 denominations.

Sure, there are other ways to buy eBay gift cards that might be better, especially if you have a Chase Ink but not everyone has that and even if you have one you may already have maxed it.  Always good to have more options.

Target Removes 5% RedCard Discount on 3rd Party Gift Cards

For a long time, it was possible to buy 3rd party gift cards from Target.com on your RedCard and get a 5% discount. This was great for hard to find discounted gift cards like eBay though some got banned from buying anything from Target for buying these discounted gcs.

With the increased limits on eBay Gift Cards usage in place, it has been even harder to find discounted eBay gift cards and this will only make it harder to find on Raise.  I think you will see a lot of eBay gift cards selling for 0% or .01% off on eBay as the demand increases and supply cannot keep up.

Best Options Now

Your best options now are to either

1) Buy from Gyft with a Chase Ink card via PayPal to earn 5x Ultimate Rewards points.  The advantage is you can buy larger denominations this way (up to $500).  There are reports of bans for buying too much from Gyft buy others seem to be able to buy tens of thousands of dollars without a problem.  Buyer beware.

2) eBay Gift Cards from Staples.com  Unfortunately you can only buy eGift Cards from Staples.com in $100 increments and they do not come immediately (often the next day).  You can buy physical gift cards in $200 denominations but those come with $2 fees.  There was a time when portals paid out for gift cards from Staples.  That's long gone.  Doesn't hurt to try though - except me, it hurts me since it is an affiliate link ;)

3) You can buy directly on eBay from PayPal Digital Gifts which codes as 5x UR with Chase ink.

3) In store.  Use your ink at Staples stores, use a grocery credit cards at a grocery store etc.  That means I have to get off my lazy bottom and it also means you need to stock up to make sure they are available when you need them.  Probably not going to do that.

This is definitely bad news, but most definitely not catastrophic.  We will live another day.

Unlimited eBay Gift Card Use and Finding Your Orphan Funds on your eBay Gift Cards

Update: Reader Avi points us to Travel with Grant that you can go to this link from PayPal, log in and you will see all your used and unused eBay Gift Cards.  Very useful!

Update 2:  Just a quick note to let you know that many people including myself have been lifetime banned from Target.com for buying too many gift cards with our 5% REDcard discount. I have noticed you talking about juicing up eBay deals a lot using Target. They pointed out to me that they added terms to their website in January 2016 saying that they wouldn't offer repeated discounts on the same product purchase. I was labeled a reseller even though I actually used all the eBay gift cards for personal purchases. They didn't care and didn't want receipts from eBay proving what I did with them. I did about $2000 total and that got me banned. Just an FYI in case you haven't seen that out there in forums. I would caution your readers against doing Target orders and not promote it as a method. I can't buy anything from Target.com ever again -- paper towels, clothes, iPads, etc. They told me I was welcome to shop in store anytime. LOL

It's a dangerous world out there.  Be careful!

In case you missed it DoCtor Chuck broke the huge news yesterday that we can now use an unlimited number of gift cards
There used to be a maximum of $5,000 in gift cards used per rolling 180 days.  That's not very much for a reseller if you source from eBay. This is big news for us.

Until now, I avoided using eBay gift cards when I was close to my limit for fear of having to wait months until I can use the gift card and losing track of it.  You don't save/make money on gift cards if you lose hundreds of dollars in that way.

There is now a maximum of $1,000 in gift cards per order and 8 gift cards per order as well.

With the new rules in place, we can feel free to use eBay gift cards one every purchase on eBay.  That's a minimum of 5% off every purchase as you will see.

Best way to buy eBay Gift Cards

1) eBay gift cards often go on sale on eBay at 5% off and when they are sold from PayPal Digital Gifts you will also earn 5x Ultimate Rewards with Chase Ink

2) 5% off with your RedCard on target.com

3) On staples.com but then you are limited to $100 denominations without extra fees or at Staples store with Chase Ink

4) Grocery store with Fuel Points

5) Gift card exchange like Raise

6) Gyft sells eBay Gift Cards as well but the portal and G points are gone

Find your eBay Gift Card Orphaned Funds

It used to be quite simple to find your orphan funds from your eBay Gift Cards in the old eBay/Paypal checkout but unfortunately that doesn't work anymore.

Thankfully, your PayPal account still connect to your used eBay Gift Cards and stores them.  The only difference is that you have to use the mobile browser to access them.  Just click (tap, really) on the area to add a promo code and your non used eBay gift cards will be right there.

MacBook with Extra eBay Bucks

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: Splender, eBay, Amazon

Disclaimer:  I will not be participating in this deal.  There is not enough profit since too many things can go wrong.  ~5% ROI can too easily turn into breakeven or a loss, especially if a lot of people buy.  If you are someone who knows how to sell on Amazon, do yourself a favor, skip this one.

If you are looking for an opportunity to learn how to use FBA and you don't mind possibly losing a little bit (or potentially a lot) of money on the way, this is a good way to start, especially with eBay Bucks as a little cushion.

Electronics Valley (I've bought from them many times) is selling a MacBook MF840LL/A on eBay for $1,200

The same item is $1,335 on Amazon (keep in mind that there are multiple listings.  This one allows you to sell as new).

After fees, you will earn $1254 or about $1,250 after shipping.  Rank is 112 in Laptops which is good.

That's about $50 of profit (4.16% ROI) at current prices and you will also earn 8% in eBay Bucks if you are targeted or $96 per MacBook in eBay Bucks.

You will still earn credit card points and eBay Bucks and 2% from Splender.

You can juice it up a bit with eBay gift cards that you buy from Target.com with a RedCard for 5% off.

Keep in mind that there is a maximum use of $5,000 of eBay Gift Cards per rolling 180 days.  Also, sometimes there is a maximum of 5, 7, 8 or 9 eBay Gift Cards that you can use in one transaction before the transaction times out.

A Deal for the Extra eBay Bucks - ~5% ROI

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: Splender, eBay, Amazon

eBay is running a promotion with targeted increased eBay Bucks up to 10%.

In my last post I asked if readers were interested in deals that are around 5% ROI and the few that responded said yes so here is another one.  If this is or isn't what you are interested in let me know and I can decided whether to continue depending on reader interest.

Please be aware that these margins are tight and can change if too many sellers jump aboard but it still can be good if you are interested in hitting a threshold for a sign up bonus or something like that.

I usually don't do 5-10% ROI deals because I am afraid of the price of a return and tieing up my money for too long.  Video games are a little different.  I have yet to have a return on a video game.  Obviously that could change.

Portals May No Longer Pay Out for eBay Gift Cards on eBay

HT: @joeyredmond

eBay has sent a notice out to their affiliates that they are no longer considering purchases of eBay gift cards to be a revenue sales and are therefore not going to pay a commission on those sales

I don't know the ins and outs of portals but my understand is that many portals use a similar program for tracking of sales.  If true, this would mean that portals would no longer pay out for purchases of eBay Gift Cards.

The truth is that portals already exclude eBay Gift Cards from cashback but in practice many times you still get cashback for that.  This may no longer be true after March 6th.  Time will tell.

Here is the whole email:

Dear Valued Publisher,

We wanted to inform you of changes being rolled out regarding eBay gift cards, and to let you know how these changes may affect your affiliate promotions.

Beginning March 6, 2016eBay will no longer count sales of eBay-branded gift cards within checkout metrics, as they will no longer be counted as revenue-generating items for eBay. What this means for our partners is that you will no longer be able to earn affiliate commissions by driving sales of eBay-branded gift cards after March 6.

While no other merchant gift cards sold on eBay are affected by this change, you should be aware that gift cards in general can result in little to no affiliate commissions based oneBay’s revenue on these products. Because we want to make sure you are maximizing your affiliate earnings, we also want to remind you that products which earn little to no affiliate commissions include items sold by charities, extended warranties, and occasionally items sold on eBay Stores with seller fee promotions.

We welcome any questions regarding these changes at epn-cs-english@ebay.com. Thank you for your continued partnership.

Sincerely,
eBay Partner Network

2 MacBook Deals for 4x eBay Bucks

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: eBay, Amazon and Splender

Please be aware that there are multiple listings for each of these MacBooks. Some allow you to sell as new and some do not.  Amazon can always shut down listings and they have done it before.

There are a couple of MacBooks on sale on eBay that you should think about to take advantage of your increased eBay Bucks if you were targeted.

MD101LL/A  - $800 - About 550 available - Limit of 1
MJVM2LL/A - $730 - about 1275 available - Limit of 1

MD101LL/A on Amazon - $905 but there are currently no FBA sellers so you can likely sell for about $920 or even higher, especially with holidays approaching.  126 in Laptops so it will sell fast and with the holidays here, super fast.

MJVM2LL/A on Amazon - $826.  Next FBA seller is $839 so once again you might be able to sell for far higher than the buy box currently.

MD101LL/A fees on Amazon if you sell at $905,.85 (current buy box) will bring your takehome down to $851.  With Shipping, you will be at about $845.  That's a profit of 5.6% before your 8% in eBay Box.

MJVM2LLA fees at $826 (current Buy Box) will bring your takehome down to $776.  With Shipping, you will be at about $770.  That's a profit of 5.5% before your 8% in eBay Box.

You will still earn credit card rewards of 2%.  Buy eBay gift cards for even greater savings.  You are always able to buy eBay gift cards for 5% off from Target with a Target RedCard.

Use a shopping portal - You can either use Splender portal for 2% at eBay (new shopping portal) or you can use the Plenti shopping portal for 4x Plenti points, if you are into that type of thing.

Prices can and will likely go down a bit due to resellers but if you are patient you should do just fine.

Up to 4x eBay Bucks - Today Only - Targeted

Sorry that this is a bit late but I've been busy all day.

Check your emails for an offer from eBay for extra eBay bucks.  This is a one day deal this time.

4x eBay bucks on any item of $150 or more.

This a multiplier of the regular 2% eBay Bucks so 4x is actually 8% in eBay Bucks!

Can't Find Enough to Buy on eBay with 4x eBay Bucks? Lock in Great Savings at Staples with eGift Cards on eBay

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:  eBay, Amazon, Shop at Home

HT - Ryan

If you can't think of what to buy on eBay and you don't want your 4x eBay Bucks to go to waste, you can buy Staples eGift Cards from PayPal Digital Gifts on eBay.

There is a maximum of 5 Staples Gift Cards that you can use on any purchase.  They sell denominations as high as $100 on eBay so be aware of that.

You will earn 8% eBay Bucks and 5x Ultimate Rewards points if you use Chase INK so there is little downside if you know you can use the gift cards.  You should also earn 2% from ShopAtHome.com. Physical gift cards excluded from cashback, but eGift Cards are not.

You can always buy an iPad (or 2!) this week from Staples since they are on sale and it can really juice up your margins.  You will still earn your regular Staples Rewards and portal points when you pay with gift cards.

HT - YW via DM

Bonus points if anyone can figure out the Amazon listing for this iPad- I think it will make a nice amount of money but I can't figure out which model it actually is.  Let me know what you think.

eBay is selling a iPad Air 2 64GB for $490.No limit as of now.  There are about 225 Silver and 1 gold version left as of this writing.  I know that there are taxes in NY, NJ and CA which kills it for me.  Check to see if you have taxes.

The ranking is fantastic and they sell really quickly!

eBay Gift Cards 5% off from Target

HT - Danny Deal Guru via Slickdeals

Target is selling eBay Gift Cards online for 5% off.  A $100 gift card is $95.  The same with the lower denomination cards.

Use your Target RedCard for an additional 5% off so it is close to a full 10% off.  This is just about as good as it gets for eBay gift cards without fuel points.
