Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: eBay, Inbox Dollars

HT - Doctor of Credit

$100 Lowe's Gift Card for $90 - Limit of 2 on eBay - $13 MoneyMaker

You will earn up to 8% in eBay Bucks if you were targeted - $14.40 for 2 of them
5% back from Inbox Dollar - $9
2% back from credit card - $3.60
Even better if you use eBay Gift Cards

These can be sold for 83% of their value according to Gift Card Wiki with just the electronic code to SaveYa.

You are paying $153 for the 2 gift cards if you assume Inbox Dollar is reliable and if  you consider eBay Bucks to be as good as cash.  You are selling the gift cards for $166 so you will be making $13 on the sale.  Quick and easy.

This is sold by Gift Card Mall so you will not earn 5x Ultimate Rewards points.  Use whatever credit card you would like or eBay Gift Cards.

Up to 6.66x + 5x On $1,500 of Purchases at Staples

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:  Staples

The United Shopping portal is currently offering 4x miles per $1 spent at Staples.

There is also a United Shopping portal bonus.  If you spend $1,500 at any store, you will earn 4,000 miles.

If you combine the two, you will earn 6,000 united miles + 4,000 bonus united miles for spending exactly $1,500 at Staples.  That's a combined 6.66 miles per $1 spent

Use a Chase Ink to pay and you will earn 5x Ultimate Rewards points.

So you can earn 10,000 United miles and 7,500 UR points (which can be transferred to United) for spending $1,500 at Staples.

Remember that portals don't give out bonuses for tax so the base price needs to be $1,500 before tax.  Chase Ink does give out 5x for the tax as well.

You could always buy $1,500 of eBay Gift Cards or other eGift Cards in anticipation of the next sale (no clue when that will be) or you can buy a $100 Lowe's eGift Card for $90 (HT - Frequent Miler).  No reselling action but if you need to make a purchase at Lowe's this is a good discount.

Have a reselling idea?  Put it in the comments?

Please note that the terms and conditions explicitly exclude gift cards from earning miles through United. That being said, reports have been positive lately and portals have been paying out for eGift Cards purchases at Staples.  If it doesn't track properly, they won't credit you because of the terms.  That is a risk of the deal.

Lowe's, Cabella and TGIF Gift Card Reselling Opportunity from eBay

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:  Top Cashback and eBay

Update: Well, unfortunately that died about 2 minutes after I posted. That's pretty annoying.  Though Cabella's Gift Cards can be sold at a slightly higher margin (1.5%) than Lowe's and TGIF Gift Cards can also be sold at the same 1% margin so there is still stuff to buy.  Limit of 5 for each.

Via Doctor of Credit and Dan'sDeals

eBay (via Gift Card Mall) is selling $50 Lowe's gift cards for $40 which is 20% off.  Limit of 3.  These will sell fast!

There are a bunch of others on sale as well, you can check out Doctor of Credit for the full list.  Lowe's was by far the most interesting that is still in stock.

According to Gift Card Granny, you can sell the cards for up to 81%.

So, here goes the math.

1% for reselling
1.5% from Top Cashback
2% in eBay Bucks towards a future deal
Up to 5% in credit card rewards (Chase Ink)

This is great for some extra cash or to hit a credit card minimum.

This is even better if you need to spend money at Lowe's or if your local Lowe's allows you to buy Amazon Gift Cards with them.

Use your existing eBay gift cards to buy them as well.

Doctor of Credit also reports that cash advance fees that have been charged on eBay gift card purchases from Gift Card mall have been solved.

11-16% off at Lowe's

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: Top Cashback, Raise

Raise.com is now offering Lowe's gift cards for 10% off.

Start your shopping from Top Cashback and you'll get an additional 1% cashback into your account for a total of 11% off.  I have been use Top cashback since November of 2012 and I already have over $500 in my account for shopping I would be doing anyway.

If you are a new customer you can use coupon code RAISE60AF and save $5 off $60.

In addition, as I explained a while back, you can use your Lowe's gift card to double dip by using the following method:

1) Start your actual shopping for Lowe's at one of the shopping portals.

2 ) Start off by buying gift cards worth slightly less than your final price.  For example, if you expect to spend $124 at Lowe's, buy a $120 gift card.  This makes sure you don't end up with a gift card with a small balance you have to remember about later.  In addition, you will be forced to pay the balance of the purchase on a credit card.  Pay for the items with your discounted gift cards.

3) As long as some of the purchase is with a credit card, you should qualify for additional money or cashback via the shopping portal.

Lots of gift card and shopping portal experiments can be found at the Frequent Miler Labs.  Check it out.

Current Best Shopping Portals for Lowe's - You can check for yourself here at Cashback Monitor

Shop Discover - 5% - You must have a Discover Card to use it.
Ultimate Rewards - 3x points per dollar spent - Must have a Chase Card that gets Ultimate Rewards Point (Freedom, Sapphire, Ink series)
AAdvantage Shopping - 3x miles per dollar spent.  Must have American Airlines Frequent Flyer Account

You can also buy Lowe's gift cards that can only be used in store for 12.5% off after Top Cashback, but I don't recommend it because then you can't do the double dip with the shopping portals.

Note: Keep in mind that Raise sells gift cards sold to them by individuals.  They don't usually have a large stock of any one card and prices are changing constantly based on what is sold to them and what is bought.

Save 15% off every Lowe's purchase until the end of June with your Chase Freedom or Discover it Cards - I have needed to spend a lot money at Lowe's and I will probably get over 10,000 points for it just from this quarter.  80,000 miles is a free roundtrip to Israel so that's not too shabby!  I hope to show the full calculations later.

Lowe's Triple Dip - 15% Cashback

Disclaimer - The Discover offers are no longer valid.

About 10 days ago, I posted about saving 10% off Lowe's Purchases.  I want to confirm that it is possible to get 15% off every Lowe's purchase until the end of June using the Chase Freedom or Discover it cards!

I'm not going to repeat everything here, but here is the basic idea:

  • Buy physical gift cards at Lowes.com after starting your shopping at either the Chase Ultimate Rewards shopping portal or the Shop Discover shopping portal.  Buy in increments that are less than you expect to spend.  For example, I am probably going to spend $400 at Lowe's when I move.  I will buy a $300 gift card and 4 $25 gift cards so that it isn't all on one card.
    • Both cards have Lowe's among their 5% quarterly categories and both give another 5% for starting at their shopping portal for a total of 10%
      • It takes about a week for the gift cards to come for free or you could get them rushed for $4.95
      • Do not buy eGift cards as though are processed by a different company and won't come back as a Lowe's purchase
  • Once you have your gift card, go back to the shopping portal and pay with your gift card.  As long as what you are buying is slightly more than the balance of your gift cards, use the appropriate credit card to pay the rest of the balance, you will get the extra 5% on the entire balance, not just the portion you paid for with the credit card!

I bought something for $10, put $2 on gift cards, the rest on my Chase Freedom and I got 50 points, not 40 points!

If you are moving, like me, make sure to sign up for a 10% moving coupon on up to $5,000 in purchases.

If you want to see similar experiments, check out the Frequent Miler Labs where he tests many theories to see what does and what doesn't work.  The one I posted about today, I have tried and confirmed myself.
