Raise Limiting Staples Gift Card Purchases to $500 a Week? Might be Time to Check out Gift Card Mart with 5x Ultimate Rewards

I was trying to buy some Staples Gift Cards on Raise and I got the following error:

I don't know if this is my account or everyone's but they aren't letting me buy more than $500 a week.  Interesting.

This might give me the opportunity to use Gift Card Mart which is now being reported to earn 5x Ultimate Rewards points when making gift card purchases.  That's a big of a game changer as I've only had very good experiences buying from them.

Be aware that there is a one time fraud prevention you need to go through if you are a first time buyer.

A Good Day to Look at Kohl's...

There are quite a few reasons why today is a good day to look for items to buy from Kohl's

If you have a Kohl's Charge Card use coupon code SUNNY for 30% off.

Earn $10 in Kohl's Cash for every $50 you spend

Earn $5 in Yes2You Rewards (need to enroll to earn Yes2You) for every $100 you spend

Use Upromise Shopping portal for 7% cashback.

Use a discount gift card for 12% off (current rate at Raise - affiliate link).  You can earn 2% cashback from Splender for the first $1,000 you spend at Raise across all portals.

Here is an example of what you can save:

If you spend $145, your total will be $101.50 after the coupon and you will be eligible for free shipping ($100 after all discounts).

You will pay about $90 for that $101.50 when you pay with a gift card.

You will also earn $2 from your credit card assuming you paid for the gift card with a Credit Card earning 2%.

In addition, you will earn $7.10 from Upromise, $20 in Kohl's Cash and $5 in Yes2You Rewards.

Let's assume you value Yes2Rewards and Kohl's Cash as regular money (you most definitely should not!), you are actually paying about $67 (add in tax somewhere there) for $145 of merchandise.
Goodness gracious!

If like a good lemming (joking of course), you bought Kohl's Gift Card on eBay when I suggested, your gift cards will actually be 17% off (instead of 12%), with 8% in eBay Bucks and 2.5% from Top Cashback on top of everything else.

If you don't have a Upromise account you can email me at orensmoneysaver@gmail.com for a referral and we will both get $20.

My Go To Gift Card Buyers and CardCash's Great Customer Service

I do some opportunistic gift card reselling every once in a while.  When you choose the right deals, the risks are low and the returns can be decent.

I have come to learn that where you sell your gift cards to matters almost as much, if not more, than the rate you receive.

I will no longer sell to Gift Card Rescue or JunkCard (I don't think Junkcard is accepting new gift cards anyways).

Gift Card Rescue took a long time to pay out, required extra information and threatened to hold funds hostage from my people and changed payouts on others.  In the end, their CEO intervened and everyone got paid (let me know if you didn't).

JunkCard also took a long time to pay, was bouncing checks and didn't acknowledge a large transaction of mine.  They didn't respond to emails so I threatened a lawsuit (it would have been worth it) and I was finally paid.

Either way, it was not worth the hassle and stress for a couple extra percent.

My Favorite Gift Card Buyers

I now stick with the big guns for the most part:  Raise, Gift Card Zen, Cardpool, CardCash and I'm just starting out with Gift Card Mart.

Turnaround is quick, they often pay with ACH payments, accept eGift Cards and the companies are reliable and interested in a long term profitable relationship, not making an extra buck off you short term.

There may be others that deserve to be on this list, but I don't have much experience with others so I won't mention them.  I have had good results with SaveYa but I can't say the same for others and they have some intense limits on their Bulk Sellers.

CardCash Customer Service

In addition, the bigger companies have customer service that is usually excellent.  Here is one example from CardCash:

Back at the end of August, I talked about a Gift Card deal.  One of the deals involved buying $100 76 Brand Gas Gift Cards for $90 and selling them for $92 to CardCash.

By mistake, when I was selling to CardCash, I entered the value as $90 (the price I paid) instead of $100.  That could have been a big problem.  They could have kept the extra funds themselves and only sent it to me if I realized.  It has happened on other exchanges.

I received this email from CardCash

They verified the gift cards and saw that there was $100, not $90 and automatically paid me $92.  I am very happy with all of my transactions with them so far.

Top Cashback has Uplifted Raise Gift Card Sales for August

The Top Cashback promotion for $10 per gift card listing on Raise in August has ended.  The transactions initially post at $1.50 are supposed to be uplifted to $10 at the end of the month.  It's now only the second day of September and my gift card listings have been uplifted.  You can check your accounts to make sure yours have been uplifted as well.

As I discussed yesterday, you can still get $1.50 per listing and Chuck on Doctor of Credit confirms that it works for $50 purchases as well.

Sears and Top Cashback Updates - Good and Bad News for Both

It is September 1st and many deals expired yesterday and some new ones are here.

Sears

As expected, Discover Deals has dropped Sears down to 5% from 10%, but PF Digest reports that you can earn 20% at Sears with the Upromise Credit Card and Upromise shopping Portal.  This only lasts until 9/5/2015.

I don't have that credit card, but it is on my list assuming people tell me that the money is automatically added to your account and you don't have to ask for tracking all the time.

Top Cashback Changes Terms for Raise Seller Promotion, Again - This Time it is Good News, Again

Top Cashback has an awesome promotion where you can earn $10 for every $50 gift card you sell.

There has been a never ending saga with Top Cashback constantly changing the terms.

At first it wasn't clear what the terms were, then they changed them for the worse so that you needed to sell the gift cards for $50 or more.

Next, they changed it for the better that it was based on the value of the gift card.

Then, they changed it back for the worse, again.

Well, now we are back to the promotion that we like, again.  I don't think I've ever seen a promotion flip flop like this so much.

The only problem is that no one has actually been uplifted from $1.50 to $10.  We'll see if that ever happens. I was about to list some $50 gift cards for the $1.50 so this is good news for me.  $10 a gift card makes a big difference for margins.

Which Gift Card Resellers Allow American Express Gift Cards? eGift Card Delivery Speed? Scanable Barcode for in Store Use? I Need Your Help Please!

Thank you for all those who contributed to this list.

Discounted gift cards make a huge difference in your bottom line when it comes to reselling or just plain old purchases.  It can be the difference between a good deal and a great deal.

If you can add another layer of using American Express Gift Cards to pay, you can add an extra 2% of savings compared to your regular credit card if you buy them when Top Cashback is paying 2.25% (after activation fees).  It will often make a difference in which site actually has the best discount.

It's also nice to know if your gift card will come immediately so you can purchase a discounted gift card right before making a purchase.

Extra 5% off eBay Gift Cards on Raise This weekend

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site:  Raise and Top Cashback

HT - Mileswhip on Twitter

Raise.com sells gift cards to retailers at a discount.  They run almost weekly weekend sales where you can get an extra 5% off on top of the regular prices on select gift cards.  The sale ends after the weekend.

Click this link for the current discount rates of all the gift cards on sale

The most interesting one to me is eBay.  They are on sale for 0.5% off so you will save 5.5%.  The normal price is about 3.3% off when you buy from Raise.

Use coupon code TAKE5

Ideally you should pay with your American Express Gift Cards which you buy with a Fidelity American Express card when Top Cashback is paying 2.25%.  That combination will earn you an additional 4% cashback off.

Start your purchase from Top Cashback and get up to 2% cash back as well for your first $1,000 of gift cards purchased there.

Don't have Top Cashback?  Sign up here for free.

There still are some nice gift cards available on eBay for purchase, like $170 for a $200 Staples Gift Card.
