Which Gift Card Resellers Allow American Express Gift Cards? eGift Card Delivery Speed? Scanable Barcode for in Store Use? I Need Your Help Please!

Thank you for all those who contributed to this list.

Discounted gift cards make a huge difference in your bottom line when it comes to reselling or just plain old purchases.  It can be the difference between a good deal and a great deal.

If you can add another layer of using American Express Gift Cards to pay, you can add an extra 2% of savings compared to your regular credit card if you buy them when Top Cashback is paying 2.25% (after activation fees).  It will often make a difference in which site actually has the best discount.

It's also nice to know if your gift card will come immediately so you can purchase a discounted gift card right before making a purchase.

CardPool Paid 92% for My "66" Phillips Gas Gift Cards

There was an eBay gift card deal available awhile back that sold "66" Phillips brand gas gift cards for cheap.  These gift cards can be used at 66 and 76 gas stations.

The problem was that many resellers bought 66 brand at a much lower rate than the 76 brand.  I tried to sell the card as a 76 brand gift card to Cardpool to get the 92% rate.  Cardpool accepted my gift cards and confirmed I would be paid 92%.

Just to follow up and because 76 brand gift cards went on sale yesterday on eBay I wanted to let everyone know that the check came in the mail and they in fact paid me 92%.  Not shocking news, but it is nice to have a good experience with one of the resellers.

Selling your 76 cards to Cardpool should be no problem.  Just make sure you read Chasing the Points to avoid paying for postage.

Cardpool Bought my "66" Phillips Gas Gift Cards at 92%!

Update: @NateTheBlade tweeted that he was able to sell the same gift cards to ABC gift cards for 92% as well.  They are currently buying at 92% as well.

Doctor of Credit posted about a nice eBay Gift Card deal recently involving Phillips gas gift cards.

The $100 gift cards were going for $90.  In terms of the payout, DoC wrote:

These gift cards can be used both at Phillips and at 76 gas stations. Interestingly, 76 gift cards resell for 92% of their value while the Phillips 66 cards only go for 86-88%. Hopefully, the cards will be generic and say both gas stations on the card. I’m not counting on that, however, and we’re assuming for now that we’ll have to either use it or resell it for 86-88%.

Cardpool 5% off any Gift Card - Targeted - A Possible Tip

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: Cardpool

This morning I received a surprise email from Cardpool, which offered a coupon code for 5% off any gift card.  $10 max savings.  The email is definitely targeted.

Some Background and a Tip

On Saturday night, I tried to buy a Target gift card from Cardpool.  I used an AMEX gift card to pay like I would on Raise.  I was promptly rejected.  I forgot that you can't use AMEX gift cards on Cardpool (It might work if you register your address over the phone).

I then left the gift cards in my shopping cart and didn't think about it again

This morning, I got the targeted email.

My recommention:  "Buy" a gift card with an AMEX gift card or any card that will be rejected.  Leave the cards in your cart and hope you get targeted too.

I don't know that this will work, but it can't hurt.

I was able to buy Staples gift cards at about 11% off and Walmart gift cards at about 8.5% off and I still get another 2% for using my Fidelity American Express.  Not too shabby!

Don't have a Cardpool Account?  I would appreciate it if you signed up for an account through my affiliate link.  I will receive $5 if you sign up.

Top Cashback has a decent offer available for a Fandango Gift Card.  Buy a $15 Fandango gift card and Top Cashback will give you $15 within 7 days.

That's either a free $15 Fandango Gift Card or you can resell the gift card online.   According to Gift Card Granny, you can resell Fandango Gift Cards for 75% of their value at Cardpool.  Top Cashback will also give you 4% cashback on the value of the gift card if you go to their site before Cardpool.

The offer is only available to people have never made a transaction through Top Cashback before.  The offer is available until March 26th.

Make Money with Bloomindale's Gift Cards and American Express

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: Discover, Top Cashback, Cardpool, Bloomingdale's

As I have mentioned numerous times, American Express often runs promotions through their online site.  Just go to the bottom of the main site to the section that says "Offers for You" to see which offers you are eligible for.

Right now, I have the following offer on a number of my cards.

$50 off a $250 purchase from Bloomingdales.  This offer can be used to make a little bit of money and some extra miles/cashback on the side as well.

Buying the Gift Cards

Here's how to do it, but please finish reading all the directions before you start because there are a few tricks I mention later that are important for the beginning:

1) Add the Offer to your eligible American Express card
2) Buy a $250 Physical Gift Card for $255 from Bloomingdale's.  I already did this and got the credit.
3) You will get an email from American Express within a few hours stating that you will get the $50 credit
4) Sell your gift card to Cardpool.  Currently, they are paying $207.50 for a $250 Bloomingdales gift card, but this may change depending on availability.  You will need to mail the gift card to them.

Even More Enticing and Fewer Headaches

1) Start your purchase of the gift card from Shop Discover (requires a Discover it®  card) and you might get another 5% cashback.  I don't think it will work because I haven't gotten any confirmation from them, but it can't hurt to try.  If it works, you will get an extra $12.50 so that would be nice, but don't bet on it.

2) Before you sell the gift card to Cardpool, go to Top Cashback first and you will get an additional 4% cashback on the value of the gift card you are selling.  A $250 gift card will get you another $10 into your Top Cashback account.

3) Normally, one you click on the offer from American Express it will be added to that card and every card connected to that account is no longer eligible even though the offer was available on multiple cards before you added it to any of them.
There is a trick for this:  Log in to your American Express account from multiple tabs and open the "Offers for You" from each tab on every card the offer is eligible for before you add the offer to any of them. You can now add the offer to each card.

I don't think this is worth it for one card, but I was able to buy 7 of them between my various accounts and that made it worthwhile.

4) I had trouble checking out if I signed in to my Bloomingdale's account.  I kept getting an error that my payment was incorrect, but it worked fine if I checkout out as a guest.  In addition, they had to call me for the first order to verify that it was me.

The Math

The final math:

Fees:
$255 from Bloomingdales

Credits:
$207.50 from Cardpool
$50 from American Express
$10 from Top Cashback
Whatever rewards you normally get from your credit card - Let's call it 1% or $2.05

= $14.55 per card, + you might get another $12.50 from Discover, but not likely.

5 Simple Methods I use Frequently to Save/Earn Money

Disclaimer: I receive a referral commission for the following link(s) and I greatly appreciate supporting the site: Top Cashback, Ebates, Raise, Cardpool, Discover it®

Here is a list of the methods I use on a regular basis that are not too complicated and don't require as much time as most things I talk about.  There are lots more, but these are the easiest and the most frequent.  Almost none of these actually require me to get off my lazy tuchus.

1) Online Shopping Portals - I like to keep it simple so I don't use too many.  Usually the ones I use are Top Cashback, Ebates, Shop Discover (needs a Discover it® card)and Ultimate Rewards (needs a Chase card that gets Ultimate Rewards - like Freedom and Sapphire).  Before any purchase online, I will check Cash Back Monitor to see which one is the best for that purchase.

2) Discount Gift Cards - Instead of buying items directly, I usually buy a gift card at a discount to pay for it.  Raise and Cardpool (after starting at Top Cashback) are some of my go to's, but I usually check out giftcardgranny.com to see what's the best deal out there.

After I buy the gift card I still usually go back to Top Cashback before the purchase of the actual merchandise as a "double dip" is usually successful.

3) Target Gift Cards -  Specifically with Target, I always use a gift card.  As long as I am logged into my account online that is connected to my Red Card I will get all the benefits of the Red Card and stack my savings.  See this post for more info.

4) Using the Right Credit Cards - questionable if this is easy.  This is where the most savings comes for me, but also the most mental energy.  I am constantly thinking about which is the best credit card.  My mantra is, "Maybe I can be doing better."  Check out this post to figure out which cards are the best for you.

5) Bank of America Better Balance Rewards - This card is a no brainer.  I get $120 for me and $120 for my wife's card without doing anything.  All you do is have one recurring bill automatically paid by the card and the credit card bill automatically paid from your checking account and you will get $25 a quarter.  Another $5 each quarter if you have a Bank of America checking account as well for $30 per quarter.
A word of caution - make sure your rewards go into a separate account and not as a credit into the credit card.  I got a credit and one month my bill was negative and I wasn't eligible for the $30 at the end of the quarter.  Bummer!
Check out this post for more info.
